Bioclear is applied to repair chipped teeth, discolored teeth, or spaces between the teeth. It is an affordable, conservative treatment, which uses clear molds that are filled with a composite material to match the shade of your teeth. Bioclear may also be an alternative to Invisalign or traditional metal braces if the gaps between the teeth are small enough. To learn more about Bioclear, call us today to schedule an appointment in our Ashburn or Great Falls, VA office!

What is Bioclear composite binding?

Bioclear is a modern alternative to traditional bonding or veneers. It’s a minimally invasive,
additive-only technique that uses a strong, smooth composite material to enhance your teeth
without removing any enamel. It can be used to close gaps, correct uneven edges, and reshape
your smile, while preserving your natural teeth.

How is Bioclear different from traditional composite bonding?

Traditional bonding can sometimes leave visible lines or uneven textures. The Bioclear method
uses clear forms and heated composite to create a seamless, polished result that blends
perfectly with your natural teeth—and is stronger and more stain-resistant than typical bonding.

Does Bioclear require any enamel removal or drilling?

No! Bioclear is a non-invasive alternative to traditional veneers. It only adds to your existing
teeth and can even be removed or replaced in the future if desired — giving you flexibility and
peace of mind.

Which office locations provide this service at Costa Dentistry?

We do Bioclear at both of our offices! Schedule your free consultation at our Ashburn office
or at our Great Falls office to learn more about the Bioclear process, pricing, and procedure.

How many appointments does Bioclear require?

The patient will need to have an initial consultation to determine the best treatment plan. After
the consultation, Bioclear can typically be completed in one appointment at our Ashburn or
Great Falls offices.

Does Bioclear hurt?

Generally, no. Bioclear does not require drilling or removal of tooth structure at all. The material
is added to the existing tooth to reshape it. However, we are working very close to the gums. In
some cases our dentists need to polish the Bioclear material under the gums or place
separators in between the teeth that may cause discomfort.

How long does Bioclear last?

With proper daily care, Bioclear composite bonding can last 10 years or longer. Bioclear is a
permanent restoration for front teeth that reshapes the tooth using tooth-colored composite
resin to eliminate black triangles at the gum line. The material is carefully shade-matched, making the result natural and virtually undetectable.

Does tooth structure need to be removed from the tooth?

No tooth structure will be removed or shaved away. We simply clean the surface of the tooth
using polishers and a gentle sandblaster, then apply a tooth-colored, resin-based material to the
sides of the tooth. This material is shaped to match your natural tooth and close any black
triangle spaces near the gum line.

Do I need anesthesia for it?

Anesthesia or numbing are options based on each patient’s comfort level throughout the
appointment. Even though we are not removing tooth structure, we are working very close to the
gums. In some cases we have to polish the Bioclear material under the gums or place
separators in between the teeth that may cause discomfort. This procedure can be done without
any numbing at all if that is your preference.

Will the material change colors?

No. The material we use is highly color-stable and can be polished to a smooth, natural finish
that feels comfortable to the tongue. With proper at-home oral hygiene, it remains clean and
maintains its appearance over time.

Which is better, veneers vs. Bioclear?

Veneers are a wonderful treatment if you are trying to change the color or shape of your teeth.
For veneers, you have to remove some enamel of the tooth and replace it with ceramic material.
It is a very long-lasting procedure and a permanent way of fixing cosmetic problems in teeth
size, shape, or appearance.

Bioclear will not change the shape of your teeth. You do not need to remove any tooth structure
away from the tooth. We are just adding resin material to the sides of the tooth to close those
little spaces that sometimes after orthodontic treatment can open up or if a patient has some
bone loss around the front teeth.

Can children, teens, or young adults receive Bioclear?

Yes. Children with peg-shaped lateral incisors or other cosmetic concerns qualify for Bioclear
treatment because it is non-invasive composite bonding, and does not take away from the
shape or structure of the tooth. Bioclear adds a bonding resin material to teeth to help patients
achieve their dream smile without shaving down the teeth, as is done with veneers.

Does Costa Dentistry offer no-prep veneers for cosmetic composite
bonding?

Yes. Patients can choose our Bioclear treatment, which provides ultra-thin veneer-like cosmetic
dental bonding to teeth with no shaving required. These prepless, or no enamel removal
veneers, can give the patient’s teeth their desired shape, are long lasting, and minimally
invasive.

How much does composite or prepless bonding cost per tooth?

Bioclear is a more affordable option for a budget smile makeover, because it takes less time
than traditional porcelain veneers. Bioclear can be added in as little as one visit, with one
additional visit required for an initial consultation.

Where can I find a cosmetic dentist for no-prep veneers near Fairfax, VA?

Costa Dentistry offers traditional porcelain veneers and Bioclear, a modern type of composite
resin bonding, at their Northern Virginia offices in Ashburn and Great Falls, VA, near Fairfax, VA.
Bioclear is a prepless option (no teeth shaping or shaving required) that involves a simple
application of composite bonding material to reshape the teeth and minimize gaps between
teeth.
